We transformed this ranch-style home with a walkout basement through a complete renovation, oversized addition, and extensive landscaping work. The design introduced modern handcrafted finishes throughout the home while creating multiple entertainment areas and a retaining wall that established a more usable backyard. In collaboration with LTB-a, the project became a far-reaching architectural transformation shaped around both beauty and function.

The work required solving a series of structural and systems challenges, including lowering basement floors to increase ceiling heights, retrofitting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems into a home not designed to accommodate them, and building in a floodplain with the protection of a massive retaining wall. Insulated foundations, rain screen cladding, continuous insulation and air barrier where possible, triple-pane passive house certified windows and doors, and an extensive mechanical system all contributed to a home that performs as thoughtfully as it looks.
